Opera Theatre of Weston (OTW) is a non-profit organization devoted to bringing quality opera performances to school children and family audiences throughout southern Vermont.

OTW offers professional productions at southern Vermont's finest regional theatres as well as semi-staged Summer Preview Performances and Vocal Masterclasses featuring artists such as acclaimed baritone Sanford Sylvan and guest conductor from the San Diego Opera, Maestro Karen Keltner.

OTW's Educational Outreach Program presents "Opera for kids... with kids" in which the world of opera is introduced to thousands of school children in special daytime school performances. Collaborating with local schools in arts education and music projects, OTW offers kids creative opportunities for both on-stage and backstage experiences.

COMING IN 2009/2010

 The Little Prince

Antoine de Saint-Exupéry's fable about a pilot who crash-lands in the desert and meets an open-hearted boy from another planet is a gentle reminder to hold onto what is truly important in life.

It has been set to music by Academy Award-winning composer Rachel Portman, whose score has been praised by critics as "graceful and tuneful" and "colorful and charming."

OTW has adapted the score into a specially condensed 1-hour length version for schools.

According to Rachel Portman... "It seemed to be beautifully done. I felt it was respectful to the piece and its spirit has been understood."

OTW is proud to present eight daytime youth performances of The Little Prince for 2600 students from southern Vermont area schools.
